What You Will Do

Responsibilities include preparing actuarial valuations of pension and retiree health plan liabilities for multiemployer, corporate, and public pension plans, performing analysis of gains and losses, plan design studies, drafting employee communications, analysis of health claims, projections of health claims costs, and communicating results to clients.

  • Process and organize data for actuarial valuation of pension and retiree health plans
  • Assist with setup and programming of actuarial valuations of health and retirement benefits
  • Update / develop new and existing Excel workbooks
  • Assist with electronic file management and documentation
  • Assist with government filing preparation
  • Prepare benefit calculations
  • Draft plan amendments and member communications
  • Draft Summary Plan Descriptions and plan documents

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel and Word

Personal Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of one or more Society of Actuaries exams

The Team

Our team is comprised of consultants, actuaries, and analysts that provide services on retirement and health and welfare benefits plans. Our focus is serving the business needs of our clients and the healthcare and retirement needs of plan participants and their families. Our clients are primarily Multiemployer trusts that provide benefits to collectively bargained employees, though we also serve public and private sector benefit plans.

Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Walnut Creek, California on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $61,000 to $94,000, depending on relevant factors, including, but not limited to, education, work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
