Job Summary
The Staff Speech Language Pathologist, the Speech Pathologist 3, reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Speech Language Pathology and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Staff Speech Language Pathologist II works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric and adolescent patients may also be treated. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Speech Language Pathologist II plans and administers a full range of speech therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech language pathology scope of practice. The Staff Speech Pathologist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Staff Speech Language Pathologist II may also supervise support personnel, Rehabilitation Aides as well as student interns and Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellows. The Staff Speech Language Pathologist II actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, clinical education programs, and inservices and staff development activities.
