Job Summary

The Supervisor for Computed Tomography oversees day to day operations of CT procedures including patient flow and quality of images. Responsible for monitoring images, assuring high quality following established departmental and Quality Assurance (QA) protocols using independent judgment and initiative. Provides input back to staff regarding individual image quality. Provides data relative to image quality to staff for QA purposes. Performs general and specialized CT procedures which meet the department's standard of quality as required.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

  • Functions as superuser, providing instruction and assistance to staff.

  • Complies statistical and QA data as needed. Reviews exam for quality, providing input back to staff regarding technical factors, and need to repeat images.

  • Maintains exam protocols in order to assure maximized exam quality and, as appropriate, exposure levels, minimizing the need to repeat imaging.

  • Coordinates with personnel of other departments with regard to patient and/or staff related problems. Notifies appropriate personnel of supply requirements; makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance and/or repair of equipment.

  • Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents and faculty.

  • Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program, section or unit by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.

  • Revises, develops and implements departmental procedures; communicate necessary changes to affected staff and departments.

  • Actively participates in departmental meetings.

  • Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic system.

  • Works closely with Department leadership to meet departmental and hospital goals including budget targets.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Requirement met by License/Certification requirement.

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience including one year of work-lead or supervisory experience.

License/Certification: Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic Radiology (CRT)

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision.

  • Knowledge of Imaging processes, techniques, methods and equipment.

  • Knowledge of billing process.

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area.

  • Ability to provide radiographic services to the developmental ages of patients.

  • Ability to identify and assess situations responding in appropriate manner by following protocol, procedures, channel of communication.

  • Ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide care as needed.

  • Ability to identify problem situations considering all perspectives in terms of scope and consequences and directs to appropriate level.

  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population, strong customer service skills, demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations.

  • Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and sets priorities.

  • Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results.

  • Ability to manage budgets and expenses.

  • Ability to manage workflow and/or unit productivity.

  • Ability to work effectively through and with others.

  • Skills: Strong clinical skills to assume staff technologist duties as needed.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $148,366.40 to $168,282.40
