Job Description:

As a member of Microchip's engineering community, you will be work with senior engineers responsible for definition, integration, and verification of a complex, multi-mode DDR Memory Controller implemented as an ASIC block with many programmable features and modes for use in advanced, low power FPGA devices.

Alternatively, an option to work with developers of full custom IO circuits including modeling, simulation, verification, and support is also available.

Duties & Responsibilities - DDR Memory Controller

  • Simulate DDR Memory Controller feature set, validate functional operation, establish test benches and simulation method including PHY timing and behavioral compliance to DFI5.0.
  • Maximize system bandwidth and minimize system latency. Create testbenches and metrics for such and report results periodically.
  • Functional verification of startup and training sequences.
  • Define and verify register configuration settings for all user modes.
  • Verify testability circuitry and define test requirements.
  • Support verification staff and timing characterization team.
  • Support Validation, Characterization and Application teams.

Duties & Responsibilities - Custom Design Engineer

  • Use SPICE to simulate high speed IO buffer feature set, validate functional operation, establish test benches.
  • Optimize circuits at transistor level for performance, low power, and area.
  • Perform functional yield analysis to 4 sigma or better optimizing transistor selection and sizing to achieve high functional yield.
  • Functional verification of startup and training sequences. Work with team to develop fixes and implement schematic changes as required.
  • Define and verify register configuration settings for all user modes.
  • Verify testability circuitry and define test requirements.
  • Support verification staff and timing characterization team.
  • Support Validation, Characterization and Application teams

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science required. Master's degree preferred; 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Competency in Verilog, System Verilog, and testbench generation and simulation.
  • SPICE simulation, understanding of transistor behavior, circuit development, and relevant programming languages (Perl, Python, Tcl, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated competency in scripting, simulation, and presentation using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
  • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Able to write clean, readable presentations.
  • Self-motivated, proactive team player.
  • Ability to work to schedule requirements.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $66,560 - $128,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
