The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

We are seeking creative and energetic Research Associate I (RA) that will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results.

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for maintaining the robot platforms for the painting and the sculpting projects.

• Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.

• May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.

• Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.

• Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.

• Support designing and running robot experiments, user studies, and analyzing results.

• Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.

• Will be responsible for developing creative art projects using AI and robotics research outputs from robot Intelligence Group (BIG) and help preparing various exhibitions.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree

• Strong Analytical Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Problem solving and reasoning skills

• 1-3 years of experience with data collection and analysis

• 1-3 years of research experience

• 1-3 years of research lab experience

• 1-3 years of research methodology experience
