Job Description

The person who fills this role will be a vital production team player at the Richmond Chemical Plant where process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized life science products are produced. You will operate, monitor, control, and troubleshoot batch and continuous chemical processes.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Champion the site's safety culture by following all policies related to the storage, handling, and disposal of materials, chemicals and biologics. You will proactively identify and report potential safety issues.
  • Be directly involved in the manufacturing of innovative scientific technologies that improve the lives of others. You will weigh, measure, prepare, mix, monitor, and adjust chemicals while operating large-scale reactors and other equipment used to produce life science research products. You will collect samples of chemical solutions and perform in-line product testing to resolve simple chemical issues before completing the production process.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of required policies, procedures, quality standards, good manufacturing practices, and safety and environmental regulations through the development and demonstration of excellent documentation skills as required by local, federal, and company regulations.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of large-scale equipment. Perform decontamination and prepare equipment for maintenance. Communicate inventory, planning, and quality issues to supervisor or appropriate department partner.

What You Bring:

  • Education: An associate or bachelors degree in a technical, chemical or biological degree is highly desirable. A high school diploma, or equivalent, will be considered with appropriate additional work experience.
  • Work Experience: 3-6 years of chemical manufacturing/biological production experience required, preferably in a regulated environment. Direct experience working with reactors and related chemical equipment is preferred.
  • Intermediate-level math skills with the ability to convert units of measure and calculate ratios.
  • Intermediate analytical and troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office tools. Word and Excel are required. Experience working with ERP systems, especially SAP, is a plus.
  • Experience working in compliance with hazardous material regulations and working with wastewater systems is helpful.

This position is eligible for a $3,000 HIRING BONUS: Offered for a limited time only. Applicable to specific positions as labeled. Recipients must be employed at the time of payout. Payout after 90 days of employment with Bio-Rad. Offered to direct hires only. Agency hires and internal transfers are not eligible. 12 months repayment clause.

Compensation: The estimated hourly rate for this position is $25.96 to $35.72 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
