Job Description

As a crucial member of the Market Development Applications Team in the role of Applications Sr/Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Bio-Rad's Mission. Your impact will be felt through the meticulous design and execution of experiments in laboratory and large-scale chromatographic resins applications with emphasis on biomolecule purification processes. Your ability to articulate complex technical information with diverse audiences will be the bridge between our products and our customers, both internal and external. Your ability to think creatively will help you to identify workflow synergies that enable our customers. You will support the generation of commercial enablement tools. This role, and the team, will work closely with various product marketing groups, product managers, sales specialist, support specialists, market development, informatics, and other commercial divisions. Additionally, this team will support key collaborations that grow and expand market adoption of applications and technologies within the portfolio. Your adaptability, quick learning, and troubleshooting skills will be essential to overcome technical challenges as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have a blend of broad experience that spans chemistry, biochemistry, proteomics, and biopharmaceutical production. Experience in, or an understanding of, material science, polymer science, and chemical engineering are considered a plus.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Design, execute and analyze chromatography purification processes which highlight the features of Bio-Rad process chromatography resins and the NGC Chromatography System.
  • Analyze purified products for host cell DNA and protein content, yield, and functional activity as warranted.
  • Perform data analysis and effectively communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the applications and other teams to collectively achieve shared objectives.
  • As a subject matter expert, you will provide valuable insight and direction when interfacing with internal and external stakeholders on chromatography experiential design, process, bridging, optimization, scale-up, downstream analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Engage collaboratively with global strategic selling divisions to enhance customer engagement and adoption of chromatography products.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare customer facing enablement tools including application notes, technical notes, presentations, assays, webinars, posters, publications, and presentations, etc.

What You Bring:

  • Education: MS degree in biotechnology, analytical chemistry, material science, polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or related field. PhD preferred.
  • Work Experience: 5 or more years' experience in chromatography focused applications within the biopharmaceutical segment is ideal. Candidates with similar or varying experiences are encouraged to apply!
  • Knowledge and experience with large scale protein purification, nucleic acid purification, and other chromatography application processes. * In depth knowledge of process chromatography resins and applications
  • Experience with process scale up from bench to process scale.
  • Hands on experience with downstream analysis techniques including, but not limited to, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, Western Blots, ELISA, and ddPCR.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, logical and analytical thinking, ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and accommodate shifting priorities.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $114,700 to $157,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
