Client Account Relationship ManagerCooley is seeking a Client Account Relationship Manager to join the Accounting and Finance team.

Position summary: The Client Account Relationship Manager will manage the lifecycle of all billing, collections and eBilling process for assigned clients. More specifically, apart from the Client Account Managers, Supervisors and Collections team, this role will function at a more strategic level while maintaining a sharp eye on details. The Client Account Relationship Manager will be the primary point of contact to partners and assigned clients to promptly resolve any issues to facilitate getting invoices across the finish line (processed and paid)and meet department objectives. This role will have high visibility to assigned partners, and other senior leadership and stakeholders. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Establish and proactively maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to promote collaboration and elevate service levels (e.g., meet with partners, as needed to discuss billing and collection matters, sharing feedback within the team, as needed)
  • Manage the internal accounting processes for key clients, including implementation/onboarding, budgets, accruals and matter management in partnership with internal accounting teams.
  • Oversee bills are posted promptly in accordance with outside counsel guidelines (OCGs) and address frequent redlined entries to ensure optimal collections of accounts receivable.
  • Track status of unsubmitted bills, identify issues and work to address rejections and reductions as they arise.
  • Ensure appropriate entries are identified and resubmitted in accordance with the client's appeal process.
  • Flag any possible delays and address with billing partner to resolve delays, this would include situations that may require reaching out to multiple partners
  • Escalate non-responses to the Director of Revenue and/or Chief Financial Officer
  • Conduct monthly review of client accounts and advise Director of Revenue of critical and/or sensitive billing matters
  • Working closely with Pricing and BIC to ensure matter setup is in compliance with the client's requirements, rates, billing requirements pursuant to the engagement letter (including eBilling, as appropriate)
  • Review outside counsel guidelines, work with eBilling to onboard clients and ensure timely submission of invoices
  • Coordinate client feedback with the internal stakeholders to manage timely and successful delivery of information
  • Compy with and understand department policies and process
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 5+ years experience in all areas of legal billing to include, collections and eBilling
  • Experience working closely with eBilling vendors
  • Current knowledge of industry best practices
  • Through knowledge of client accounting, collection procedures and current accounting concepts, trends and techniques

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous law firm experience

The expected annual pay range for this position is $110,000 - $145,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
