DESCRIPTIONThe Data Communications team designs, configures, maintains, upgrades and monitors UCSD's campus-wide local, wide area, and wireless networks. It supports the campus's enterprise routers, switches, wireless access points and associated management tools. These devices operate on Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n, and other technologies in a heterogeneous multi-protocol environment.
Provide design, engineering, and maintenance assistance on the UCSD campus wireless and wired local area network. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced communications professional with a full understanding of industry practices and relevant policies and procedures in providing consultation, evaluation, configuration, installation, troubleshooting and testing of network hardware and software to include routers, switches, and other networking equipment. Utilize various software and network management tools such as Cisco Prime, NetMRI, and Statseeker to analyze network traffic and resolve a wide range of complex issues.
RESPONSIBILITIESEmployee must be available to work evenings and flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as necessary.Employee must be able to work on a regular rotating on-call basis.Employee must be able to perform regular onsite visits to campus. Not a remote position.Employee must have and maintain a valid CA driver's license at all times.Employee must be available to travel as required.Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $82,500 - $151,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $39.51 - $72.56
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
