Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA (On-site)
Job Term: Full-Time
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager based in Santa Clara, the Manufacturing Engineer will work to support and improve manufacturing related to optical, electrical, and mechanical assembly, configuration, and final acceptance testing. The engineer will be responsible for providing production support, such as identifying continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiency, optimize yield, and assure product quality. Implementing process, equipment, tooling, fixture changes to improve throughput and quality.
The successful candidate will be working to execute the technical strategy to improve manufacturing capabilities, enhance product quality, minimize scraps, and sustain the highest operation efficiencies. These includes manufacturing process innovation, standardization, DFM (Design for Manufacturing)/ DFA (Design for Assembly) and process development / validation / implementation activities in support of the product life cycle plan, key strategic actions (e.g. growth, automation, continuous improvement strategies), and technical support of current equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the mechanical/hardware tooling efforts to improve our optical assemblies manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement cross-functional solutions to complex issues capturing best in class solutions.
  • Contribute to improvements in design, process, and materials.
  • Participate in transition from Engineering to Manufacturing, taking ownership of changes and implementing them.
  • Work on multiple projects with cross-functional teams in parallel.
  • Develop detailed working instructions, implement changes, and train operation personnel.
  • Collaborate with engineering and research and development teams.
  • Implement best practices in design for manufacturability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Industrial Engineering or the like.
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS desired
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) desired
  • Understanding of engineering best practices
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral
  • Opto-Mechanical experience (optical systems & tooling)
  • Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma (DFSS, DMAIC) Statistical Process Control, and Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Audit and Process Activity Value Analyses, Gage R & R, Root Cause Analysis (Ishikawa diagramming), Design, conduct and analyze DOE's, etc.).
Salary & Benefits:
The base salary range for this full time position is $115,000 - $125,000. Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualification, skills, and knowledge, level, and pay of other employees in similar positions.
