OVERVIEW:

To coordinate and implement social services for community members in need. To establish and maintain inter-agency relationships to provide referrals, and securing needed services and support for clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess clients' needs and schedule appointments as necessary
  • Screen clients for various Salvation Army programs and complete applications
  • Provide clothing vouchers, food boxes, and when appropriate
  • Be knowledgeable and support programs throughout San Francisco and share with the Social Services Department
  • Establish and maintain relationships with agencies to provide referrals to clients
  • Maintain accurate and updated client files and enter data into the Social Services database
  • Complete daily and monthly statistics for Divisional Headquarters
  • Complete monthly reports on statistics, food boxes, and clothing
  • Attend All Nations Corps staff meetings
  • Attend meetings and training in the community as determined by the Divisional Social Services Director as needed
  • Assist the Corps Officer with other Social Services and programs as needed
  • Assist with seasonal social service events (i.e. Back to School, Campership, Christmas, kettles, etc.)
  • Assist in emergency and disaster services work as assigned
  • Regularly review The Salvation Army Social Services policies
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Experience in data entry
  • Experience as an administrative assistant
  • Experience with Microsoft programs

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Good organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with crisis situations
  • Ability to maintain good relationships and communication with staff members and other agencies

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually food or clothing boxes)

Education
High School or Equivalent (required)

Experience
Experience with Microsoft programs (preferred)
Experience as an administrative assistant (preferred)
Experience in data entry (preferred)
