Job Description:

The SCADA Technician works within the SCADA group of the Engineering Department to assist in all SCADA related matters including but not limited to the planning, design, start up, configuration, and maintenance of control and communications assets both in the field and in the office. The SCADA Technician works closely with the Capital Delivery, Maintenance, and Operations teams to help ensure successful outcomes of all assigned projects. This position is available to work out of our San Jose, California, headquarters or from one of the nearby California Water Service greater San Francisco area district locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Startups, configurations, maintenances, and testing of new and existing SCADA installations
  • Configures field devices and interfaces with SCADA RTUs
  • Troubleshoots SCADA communications systems
  • Trains other users or technicians on all control and operation systems as well as software applications
  • Designs, develops, and implements operator interface screens
  • Designs and delivers reports for submission to various agencies including CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) and CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
  • Establishes and maintains successful working relationships with consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Works with multiple software applications using a variety of computer systems or platforms
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Participates in and support the Company's Continuous Improvement Process
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and A.S. degree, Technical degree, or equivalent experience required
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) software
  • Automation Troubleshooting skills
  • Wireless communications (MAS) experience is desired
  • Working knowledge of basic office software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid California Driver License
  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of water system operation is desired
  • State Water Resources Control Board - Drinking Water: Water Treatment Certification Grade 2 is desired & Water Distribution Certification Grade 2 is desired
  • Available for after-hours response
  • Available for occasional travel outside of normal duty area

Salary Range: $51.33 - 61.50
