Accounting Analyst
We are working with a San Francisco investment firm on an Accounting Analyst position.
LOCATION:
San Francisco, CA. Hybrid capacity.
POSITION: You will be an integral member of the Finance team involved in all financial aspects of the Fund. This is a dynamic role on a small team supporting a growing Fund. In this role, you will support all aspects of fund and management company administration, including:
Month-close, investment accounting (including impairment analysis and exits), book/review journal entries, prepare/review reconciliations, and prepare fund financial statements. Interface with auditors as needed
Portfolio company management - collect and maintain portfolio company financials and cap tables, analyze portfolio company performance and dilution, and participate in portfolio reviews
Distribution processing
Tax assistance, including review of the following as prepared by outsourced providers: partner allocations/capital accounts, tax returns/estimates, K-1/K-3s, analysis of foreign filing disclosure requirements, PFIC analysis, FATCA compliance
Assist in the preparation of quarterly performance reporting, historical trends, and ad hoc research or reports
Help maintain and upkeep data automation tools to ensure data and reporting are accurate and timely. Focus on continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Support all other aspects of the business, including international operations, deals, systems management, and Alphabet reporting.
Cross-functional interface with the business, legal, Alphabet finance/accounting
Support the investment team in the closing of transactions, including responding to information
Understand partnership agreements and interpret reporting requirements and partner economics
Calculate distribution waterfalls and carried interest
Provide review and oversight to work completed by the fund administrator.
Support team with special projects including preparing portfolio decks, maintaining dashboards, and providing ad-hoc reporting.
Calculate fund performance metrics.
Monitor SEC compliance related to ownership filings.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar major
Solid understanding of GAAP
Strong Excel skills
CPA, and/or partnership tax experience is a plus
Strong communication skills
Enjoy working in a fast-paced, "hands-on", detail-oriented, small team environment
Be a self-starter with flexibility, a positive, "can-do" attitude, a desire to learn, and a willingness to take ownership of projects
Have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines with professional follow-through
Be interested in working efficiently with a passion for continuous improvement
COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $110K - $125K + bonus.
