JOB SUMMARY

Provides security services for residents and employees of the organization. Protects from and responds to fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

* Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.

* Patrols, periodically, outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff.

* Responds to fire alarms, emergency call switch activation and other emergencies.

* Graciously warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and devises, reports or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

* Investigates and completes resident loss reports and incident reports, gives copies to supervisor and maintains a file on them.

* Keeps accurate log of shift activities.

* Occasionally performs emergency janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.

* Familiar with all disaster, fire and other emergency procedures as outlined in facility disaster plan.

* Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job. Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor.

* Follows department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write general correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

* Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

* Ability to analyze situations and present observations and recommendations to supervisor and other staff; ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non -standardized situations.
