Role Description

The Cell Engineering team within the Technology group at Form is multidisciplinary and focused on delivering qualified battery cell designs that meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines for Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.

We're looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Prototype Build team, within our Cell Engineering organization in Berkeley, CA. You will closely partner with our Cell Design and Systems Engineering teams to develop new assembly methods for our prototype cell and module production line. The focus of this role is on the development and semi-automation of novel cell assembly processes, bridging the gap between manual assembly and automated production. You will coordinate closely with our Prototype Design and Shop teams to conceptualize and implement your vision for our R&D Build line. If you are excited at the prospect of getting hands on to drive a wide variety of complex prototype designs, from lab scale up through high volume production, then this is the right role for you!

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of flexible assembly processes and fixtures to support the production of prototype cell and module designs

• Collaborate with the Systems, Cell Design, and Electrode Engineering teams to implement new cell architectures and material advancements into our R&D Build line

• Support test data analysis, and collaborate with design engineers to resolve issues detected in testing

• Conduct DFMEAs and failure analyses on prototype designs and equipment

• Work with manufacturing engineers and technicians to transition prototype designs to standard production, utilizing best practices upon release (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of manufacturing experience, ideally in a mechanical or battery assembly environment

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing; experience implementing lean process flows

• Experience working with design engineers and providing DFM or DFA feedback

• Experience influencing, communicating, and collaborating with a broad audience

• Experience with statistical data analysis software such as Minitab, JMP, or Tableau a plus

• Experience working with electrochemical devices a plus

Compensation Range: $124.3K - $145K
