Job Description

Manages all aspects of sterile and surgical equipment processing operations at El Camino Hospitals. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of: reusable medical device reprocessing, staff, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education and compliance with internal and external regulatory and survey requirements. Supports operations in a manner that is consistent with overall hospital strategies, policies and procedures. Ensures the accurate, reliable, and timely access to sterile supplies for clinicians. Is responsible for the most effective use of materials, personnel, and resources to produce quality results and positive outcomes in patient care. Ensures standardization and implementation and monitoring of current best practice sterile processing activities enterprise wide.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in healthcare administration or related field required.

Relevant experience may be considered in the absence of a degree.

Five years of experience managing a sterile processing department; experience implementing current best practice; knowledge of decontamination, and sterilization sciences case cart systems: including care of state of the art equipment, e.g., robotics and minimally invasive instrumentation.

Operating room or procedural area experience, preferred.

In-depth knowledge of the following standards: AAMI, AORN, FDA, TJC, OSHA.

Proficient in Word, Excel, Office software.

Critical thinking and analytical skills.

Experience working in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Knowledge of medical terminology and instrumentation.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Current Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, CBSPD or Healthcare Sterile Processing (or obtain within 12 months of employment).

Current Certification in Healthcare Leadership from Healthcare Sterile Processing (or obtain within 12 months of employment).

Current California RN License preferred.

Salary Range:

$72.26 - $108.39 USD Hourly
