Job Description

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:

The Security Specialist will support the Security Supervisor with daily tasks and projects. Implement and assist in developing effective site security, traffic management, and emergency management/preparedness programs. Manage the daily operations of a security function. Provide emergency response services. This position will be responsible for managing physical keys, vendor training program, access management program and managing vendors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Implement security systems installations, upgrades, and repairs, engage external service providers to schedule and oversee work, coordinate with internal departments regarding service and project scheduling, respond to related questions.
  • Utilize and administer various software systems to monitor security, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, engage internal IT resources and external vendors as required and ensure resolution.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of all security solutions, access control, CCTV, incident reporting management and Mass Notification Software.
  • Collaborate with property management and facilities staff to resolve campus issues.
  • Perform quality control reviews including risk area certifications, surveillance verification, location risk assessments, lighting surveys and related assignments.
  • Respond to emergencies and other critical incidents, ensure adherence to documented security program, applicable regulations, and departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Partner with HR, Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety on security related matters.
  • Promote positive employee relations through meeting and developing a rapport with all internal & external customers, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
  • Respond to campus-wide emergency situations (police, fire, medical, facilities, etc.)
  • Manage physical campus keys and maintain key record.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining spare parts for security.
  • Responsible for maintaining the badging station and stockpile of badging supplies.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations in coordination with contract security partner to assure all campus needs are met.
  • Maintain current and timely requests for daily access control programming.
  • Review and operate CCTV platform for quality assurance and post incident review.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and data.
  • Attends employee related functions on behalf of Security Department.
  • Support physical security initiatives by providing research, cognitive support, recommendations, and feedback.
  • Assist with the security/safety training program and maintain accurate training records.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directing work only (no direct reports, but directing work to a CMO, Consultant or 3rd party.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and seven years of experience; or,
  • AA degree in related discipline and five years of related experience; or,
  • BS/BA degree in related discipline and three years of related experience; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • First aid/AED/ CPR certification.
  • May require certification in assigned area.

Experience/The Ideal for Successful Entry into Job:

  • Experience in security management, law enforcement, or a combination of physical security discipline.
  • Experience with CCTV and access control systems, such as Milestone and CCURE.
  • Experience in securing intellectual property and confidential office locations.
  • Experience managing security operations and security personnel and delivering, customer-oriented security programs.
  • Technical experience with security access control systems, video/CCTV and incident report programs.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • General knowledge in the areas of emergency/disaster management, physical security, risk management and business resiliency.
  • Ability to multi-task and resolve situations independently with emphasis on supporting the needs of a diverse work population.

Working Conditions:

  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
  • Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary - medium - up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel required- up to 10% of time traveling

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this positionis $73,000 - $105,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
